[Ceci] Kim Hyun Joong Shows How to Wear Summer Denim

Boys get troubled when the temperature begins to rise and fall, and they have no idea what to wear.  Take a cue from two of Korea’s hottest young stars, and stop worrying about what to wear and put on your best summer denim outfit.

First, we have the cutie who plays a North Korean ping pong player in the movie “Korea,” Lee Jung Seok.  Summer usually means lighter and brighter, yet he decided to wear an indigo colored denim shirt.  The darker color is a smart pairing with his striped inner shirt, and gives a more fit, slim look than the light, washed denim so popular during the summer.  The dark indigo color adds a classic edge to the look, while the white jeans and pink shoes add a trendy touch.

Back from a successful trip to Japan, original “flower boy” Kim Hyun Joong, sports a classic pair of indigo denim.  He’s turned what could have been a very casual look into a stylish one with his witty pairing of rolled up dark jeans and skin-showing loafers.

It’s not hard to dress like a fashion king this season:

  • First, pick a classic indigo denim material.  Not only does it look refreshing, it gives you a slimmer appearance.
  • Second, boys shouldn’t shy away from exposing their skin this season.  Try sprucing up a classic look with a simple tweak, such as rolling up your jeans.
  • Third, wear canvas sneakers or clipper shoes.
  • Finally, top off whatever outfit you have with a cool, free attitude, and you’ll have an undeniable all-kill look.

[Article] Kim Hyun Joong received overwhelming response on Chinese social network Weibo

BY: babyvfan / Associate Writer

On 6th, Kim Hyun Joong opened his official weibo account at 10am. (Weibo is a Chinese social network that is similar to Twitter.)

During his previous press conference in Chengdu, he has hinted the fans that he will be opening a Weibo account to interact more with Chinese fans. Keeping his words, his official account is created this morning, and was immediately welcomed by thousands of fans online. Within 10 minutes, number of followers has exceeded 10 thousands on weibo, and in an hour’s time, his followers amount simply tripled.

Kim Hyun Joong has recorded a greeting video and shared the video on his weibo account, the video received thousands of reposts and comments, the overwhelming response clearly showed his sky-high popularity. What’s more surprising is his followers are not from China alone, but also from many parts of the world, such as Korea, Japan, Singapore and Thailand, etc. Foreign fans have been registering for an account on weibo ever since Hyun Joong revealed that he is going to open a weibo account. Although there is language barrier for fans from other countries, but because of Kim Hyun Joong, this barrier seems to be insignificant.

In the video, Kim Hyun Joong expressed his gratitude towards his fans and said that he will be sharing his life and photos actively even if he is busy with overseas activities. In the meanwhile, Kim Hyun Joong will be staging his asia tour concerts in Shanghai and Beijing this weekend.

[Article] Kim Hyun Joong | The Path Less Traveled

Credit: http://networkedblogs.com/xl13H

for the past few years, singapore has become sort of a magnet for kpop and kdrama stars.

i can’t even recall when hallyu (read: korean wave) has become mainstream. yup, it’s no longer just a small group of fanatics and maniacs liking all things korean, now the korean influence is evident in almost all aspects of our lifestyle.

i’ve lost count of the korean stars gracing our shores. since quite a few years ago, organizers too have started jumping onto the bandwagon to bring korean artists here for fan events. in fact for the past couple of years, hardly a month goes by that we do not see a korean artist in town. some months, we even see a handful.

even the recent MEN’s FASHION WEEK 2012 saw korean stars like SE7EN and daniel henney headlining the events.

MFW

that said, not many kpop artists are able to sell out big-scale concerts here, unless they’re mega stars. i think so far, we’ve seen super junior and girls’ generation hold successful concerts that sold out. the rest, they mostly take the safer route of organizing showcases.

the difference between concert and showcase?

well, it’s mainly about the scale. concerts are usually held at singapore indoor stadium or sometimes at the max pavilion (where capacity is smaller and venue rental is cheaper. but hor, the cheaper rental also means poorer sound quality… sighs…)

showcases are typically held at smaller venues; we’re talking about capacity of usually between 800-1,200 fans for showcases. showcases usually feature some 6-8 songs or sometimes 10 if the artists or agencies are feeling generous, keke! showcases would usually include a Q&A segment and sometimes, they even throw in some games or interactive activities with lucky fans.

and… sometimes, in order to generate more money, the organizers may also sell ‘add-on items’, like pay an additional amount on top of the ticket price for an autograph, a handshake, and sometimes, even photo opportunities. recently, there’s also a new trend of selling passes to attend the press conference.

yea, these days, everything’s getting so ‘modular’, tsk tsk…

what about kdrama stars, you wonder…

since they can’t exactly sing a handful of songs, they usually have what we call fan meetings. these usually last an hour or an hour and a half. the korean artist would usually show up and have Q&A session and then play some games with the fans. there may be a song or two, but usually no song since actors and actresses can’t necessarily sing.

and oh, yea, the organizers sometimes also sell autograph passes, photograph passes or press conference passes… as for scale, fan meetings are usually about the same as showcases, yup, about 1000 heads or thereabouts,

now as you all know, KIM HYUN JOONG was recently in town.

the fan event was sold as a fan meeting. and it actually happened last friday evening at the concert-worthy singapore indoor stadium.

RunningIntoTheSun

fan or not, if i were to speak objectively, that was a very very very sincere showing.

here, check out the setlist:

1. Intro: Let Me Go
2. Break Down
3. Please
4. Thank You
5. Happiness Is
6. Kiss Kiss
7. I’m Your Man
8. Smile
9. Because I’m Stupid
=== Stage Activities ===
10. Marry You
11. Do You Like That
12. Lucky Guy (remix)
13. If You Are Like Me
=== Encore ===
14. One More Time
15. Lucky Guy

yup, practically 15 songs!

he called that a fan meeting?! that’s like a concert already!

yea, there were stage effects, dancers, specially prepared clips, etc etc etc. oh, he even let ‘money’ drop from the sky for us, keke! u:zoosin dollar notes!

RunningIntoTheSun

and yup, there were stage activities too where he played games with fans and stuff.

seriously, he needn’t have.

he could have made the same amount of money with a lot less effort, honestly.

i mean he could have easily sold out a fan meeting of, say, 1,200-1,500 capacity and during the event, just stroll in, smile, answer some questions, smile, play games, smile, take some pics or shake some hands, smile.

no need for even change of outfits, or dancers, or stage effects… and yup, that also means no need for endless hours of concert planning, choreography, dance practices and even training up his stamina for the concert.

to be honest, it ain’t even his style to do fan-friendly stuff like those that he did onstage last friday night. yea, i know lots of fans liked that, but i cringed at more than the things they were trying during the stage activities. kindda cheesy and contrived, if you ask me. and oh, don’t get me started on how awkward the language barrier was…

but sure, i totally can see his effort and his earnest wish to want to up the fan service.

lotsa heart there, HJ.

RunningIntoTheSun

on top of all that, it’s like he knows what fans want and he even threw in the high-five session.

it’s always difficult (especially for overseas) fans to get a chance to go up-close and personal with their fave korean stars, let alone having abit of skinship, keke! seems like he totally understands the heart of a fan! *squeals*

and we’re talking about high-fiving every single fan in the audience. the fan meet started slightly after 8pm and ended at almost 11pm. and i know that he was still onstage high-fiving and shaking fans’ hands after midnight. (hee, as expected, the high five session kindda turned into a handshaking session!)

there were some male fans whose turns were towards the end and they shared that his hand was already rather weak and near trembling by then. yea, i guess it was hard work. after the performance, he had to stand somemore and shake everyone’s hand and all the while, standing straight and smiling and saying ‘Thank You‘ to everyone.

RunningIntoTheSun

HJ arh, why did you choose to do it this way?

this is indeed the path less traveled.

most korean artists would have taken the more comfortable way out and just do a fan meeting. and i mean a ‘normal’ fan meeting where he doesn’t need to sing and dance and sweat it out. quite easily done in under two hours, no sweat.

but what did he give us last friday night?

this man gave us the most sincere of sincere fan meetings.

i saw in last friday’s fan meeting – HJ’s heart. it was pure and pure wanting to give his fans something spectacular. he’d chosen not to take the easy way out and had chosen to sweat it out instead of just smile it out.

and… some of you may know that i love love love MURDERERQ’s pics and fancams of HJ. seems like she was here too! check out her photos from last friday HERE!

and here’s a sampling from last friday night, courtesy of THEMURDERERQ’s YOUTUBE CHANNEL.

2012.05.04 | Kim Hyun Joong @ Fan Meeting – Singapore

if you’re a fan and you didn’t catch his performance, i think it’s a real pity. especially if you haven’t yet had a chance to see him perform live. lotsa fans would vouch that HJ is a lovely to look at on posters and stuff, but he’s even lovelier when in motion! (and hey, he even gave us the long-missed jjitjoong! how could you have missed that one, ya?)

so now, if you can afford the time and money, do go support him in hong kong and taiwan. yes, tickets are still available, so go go go.

if you’re a fan, yes, i’d go so far as to say you’re letting him down if you don’t go see him. if you don’t go show support for all that he’s done for you. this is the guy who had given you free showcases in seoul, and this is the guy who had given you a concert-worth of fan meeting when he could have just sat there and breezed through it with no sweat.

and now, i leave the media pictures from RUNNING INTO THE SUN (RITS), the organizer for HJ’s fan meeting in singapore.

do note to credit RITS if you use or repost their pics. no watermark doesn’t mean you can steal pics, k? it’s shameful how picture stealing has been happening in the fandom. 62 handshake 9

K-pop star Kim Hyun Joong shook hands with and high-fived every one of the 3,000-strong crowd of mainly women who had gathered at his fan-meet at the Singapore Indoor Stadium last night.

No surprise then, that in the one hour and 15 minutes that it took for him to complete his unenviable feat, he was seen supporting himself with his other hand on the table.

At times, he was seen massaging his chest with his free hand, his face showing signs of weariness. Nevertheless, he continued to smile and greet every fan.

Before the gruelling session, Kim had performed for two hours, singing hits like Kiss Kiss and I'm Your Man, and playing games with the audience.

A fan was heard remarking, almost out of pity for Kim, that not once did he wipe his hand even when it was a given that he must have touched plenty of “disgusting, clammy palms”.

[Article] Kim Hyun Joong melts 3,000 hearts at fan meet

Hallyu wave idol Kim Hyun Joong redefined the meeting of fan-meetings at the Indoor Stadium on Friday night.

Call it gimmicky or impractical, but the Boys Over Flower star made the dreams of 3,000 fans come true that night when he high-fived and shook hands with all of them.

To his fans, some of who waited in line until midnight to go palm-to-palm with him, that was just the icing on the cake after a night of songs and games designed to melt the hearts of the hardest cynic in the audience.

Fans streamed in as early as two hours before the meeting was scheduled to start, turning up with posters, green lightsticks, specially made t-shirts, and customised banners to declare their love for their idol.

Some had flown in from as far as Japan to catch Kim, and members of his fan clubs from Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines also turned up in full force.

The theme of the night was based on Kim's self-given moniker -- the "Alien Prince" -- and true enough, he appeared on stage in a luminous egg-shaped capsule after a slickly produced video introducing him as the "ruler of the universe" who felt "loneliness".

Kim then went on to perform a set of high-energy songs, psyching up the already frenzied crowd with songs like "Let Me Go" and "Break Down" , eliciting loud screams from the mainly-female audience when he pulled open his black blazer to reveal his toned, lean torso.

Kim then cooled off with with a series of ballads like crowd favourite "Thank You", a hit from his SS501 boy band days, and "Happiness is", a classic Korean song that he covered for hugely popular Korean drama Boys Over Flowers.

The usually-reticent Kim also made several cringe-worthy attempts at speaking English to his fans by translating two lines of "Happiness Is" into "Happiness without you Baby/ I can't even imagine it" and getting fans to sing-along, which they did with gusto, many even breaking into emotional tears.

As if that wasn't enough for his already over-wrought fans, five lucky ones reached under their seats midway through the fan meet to find lucky yellow slips allowing them to play get-to-know-you games with the star.

One very lucky girl not only received a serenade and bouquet of flowers from Kim, who had changed into a more casual ensemble of t-shirt, jeans and Adidas sneakers, but got to cuddle up to him on a park bench a la Korean idol dramas.

The second part of his concert saw another series of videos and performances, including a special Boys Over Flower segment featuring the romance between Yoon Ji Hoo (played by Kim) and Geum Jan-Di (Gu Hye Sun) that catapulted him into fame.

Four songs and two encores later, the concert ended in a rousing rendition of casino-themed "Lucky Guy" , which saw him playing the role of a handsome cad surrounded by flashy cars and beautiful women.

Fans then waited patiently in line, some for as long as an hour, for the chance to high-five him -- which he did, rewarding each and every one of them with a smile.

One young fan was visibly awestruck when Kim affectionately patted her face while shaking her hand.

With a set of 15 songs in total, slick videos, games, and the once in a lifetime opportunity to shake the hand of their dream man, it was clearly money well spent for his fans here, despite earlier controversy when Taiwanese fans claimed his tickets were too expensive.

"I would spend twice that for a chance to come so close to Hyun-Joong oppa (elder brother)," said Singaporean fan Jessica Teo, 19, who forked out $300 to buy her premiere seat from a middleman after they sold out. "It was so much more than a fan meeting, like a concert, but better."

It felt more like a mini-concert with value-added fan interaction, going by the amount of songs Kim Hyun Joong performed for fans last night at the first stop for his Asia tour of Kim Hyun Joong Fan Meeting 2012 in Singapore.

Flanked by a total of 10 dancers, Hyun Joong opened the two-hour long show with fast-paced tracks such as 'Let Me Go', 'Breakdown' and 'Please', and upped the ante of the show when he flaunted his man abs at the end of his third song.

Singing and dancing non-stop to a total of nine songs from his boyband days, drama shows, and two mini-albums, Breakdown and Lucky Guy, he got his fans to participate in a sing-along for 'Happiness', with specially rewrote lyrics in English that went: Happiness without you, I cannot imagine it.

He got fans cooing when he added in Korean, "I feel that this song truly expresses my feeling to all of you guys. I'll put in my whole heart, and I really love this line so I've prepared it in English so that we can sing it together."

We revisit the top 10 highlights of Kim Hyun Joong's Singapore Fan Meeting 2012 below.Read on and relive the best moments now!

XinMsn1

#1 Hyun Joong's man abs
Having evolved from pretty boy next door in Boys Over Flowers to masculine hunk with an enviable bod in his first solo mini-album, Break Down, he teased fans when he unbuttoned his blazer at the end of his third song, 'Please', to showcase his ample chest. This definitely explains for his deep-v tops and sexy blazer-sans-the-shirt getup during the event.

XinMsn2

#2 Hyun Joong's ageyo
He's straightforward and a little offbeat, together with his newly-crafted manly image these are some of the many reasons why it's a rarity to see him do any 'ageyo' (cutesy actions) before a crowd. Last night, during the stage activities with five fans, Hyun Joong showed off his cute antics when he reenacted three iconic blonde bombshell Marilyn Monroe's signature moves. That's priceless.

XinMsn3

#3 First performance of 'I am Your Man' on stage
In the words of Hyun Joong "You guys are so lucky to be here at the stadium with me tonight. Are you curious why? It's because, this song ('I am Your Man') is sang officially on stage for the first time."

XinMsn4

#4 Live rendition of 'Because I'm Stupid'
Before it was recorded as an acoustic soundtrack for Hyun Joong debut acting series, Boys Over Flowers, this song - 'Because I'm Stupid' was originally performed by Korean boyband SS501, which leader Kim hails from. Seeing how members of SS501 are concentrating on their solo careers right now, we're sure fans seated amongst the audience, who are fans of both Hyun Joong and the group, were secretly pleased and delighted when he gave a throwback to his boyband days with this song.

XinMsn5

#5 Serenade a fan
On top of his songs and dance, what's a fan meet without the usual games and solo serenades? After the game segment with five selected fans who each got to bring home a mini present and truckloads of memories from their moment spent on stage with the Korean hottie, Hyun Joong surprised everyone when he later popped back up on stage, with one of the fans, and serenaded her with the love ballad 'Marry You', topping it off with a bouquet of red roses, and a mini cuddle on the bench. And we heard the fan girls breathe a collective sigh of envy when he took that lucky fan by her hand...

XinMsn6

#6 Hyun Joong's brand of humour
Yes, the proceedings of the fan meeting was designed and planned by the Korean heartthrob himself. Fans were given a hearty dose of his offbeat humour during his solo serenade when said fan was wheeled out on a hospital bed. The atmosphere was heightened when "he" supposedly leaned in for a kiss with the girl -- behind a 'smoke screen' -- and gasps of shock was heard throughout the crowd. Imagine everyone's relief when the screen was wheeled away to reveal his dancers behind the 'kiss' instead. Hyun Joong ah, you're such a tease.

XinMsn7

#7 Mini-concert with lots of singing
Hyun Joong fives fans more bang for the buck. We counted, the 25-year-old performed to a total of 15 songs last night - an amount that exceeded our initial expectations for a fan meeting.

XinMsn8

#8 Upclose interaction
He made sure everyone sitting far away were given an opportunity to see him upclose. He reappeared at the back of the hall and slowly made his way to the front of the stage while shaking the hands of fans and dazzling them with his bright smile during a love ballad performance.

XinMsn9

#9 Hyun Joong gets fun with water
Yes, he took a mouthful of water from a mineral bottle and proceeded to flick the rest of its contents towards the screaming crowd, whom appeared to be more than happy to bask in what we like to call - Hyun Joong's showers of blessings.

XinMsn10

#10 The high-five session
Definitely the highlight and record-breaking moment of the night, the 1hr16mins long session saw fans queue up in orderly fashion as everyone took turns to make their way up the stage to 'collect' their high-five or handshake with Hyun Joong. For someone who enjoys massive appeal amongst the young and old, we sighted a young toddler, and two elderly 72-year-old Filipino grandmothers, who were on wheelchairs, going for a handshake with him. And yes, he high-fived/handshaked everyone single person in the stadium that night.
