Kim Hyun Joong‘s album has been certified Gold in Japan.

According to the January million single/album list released by the Recording Industry Association of Japan on the 10th, Kim Hyun Joong’s Japanese debut single, ‘Kiss Kiss/Lucky Guy’ has been certified Gold.

The Recording Industry Association of Japan accredits ‘Gold’ certification to albums that sell over 100k copies. With his Gold certification Kim Hyun Joong is making news together with Kara, the group has reached Triple Platinum on the same day.

The Gold certification is even more impressive when you consider the fact that the feat has been achieved in just two weeks. Kim Hyun Joong has sold 71,812 copies of his album on the day of its release, it was ranked #2 on the Oricon Daily chart on the same day, and it continues to sell very well.

Kim Hyun Joong has kicked off his Japanese promotion with record setting numbers since last month. Kim Hyun Joong has sold most albums ever by a debuting foreign artist, since the inception of Oricon Weekly chart on March of 2009.

Kim Hyun Joong held his debut commemoration concert on the 5th, at the Yokohama Arena with 20,000 lucky fans. Kim Hyun Joong stated, “I’m only a rookie, thank you for giving me such great result”.

Kim Hyun Joong’s debut Japanese album achieves ‘Gold’ status

Kim Hyun Joong is proving to be quite a force to be reckoned with in Japan, as his album has reached ‘Gold’ status in just two weeks!

According to the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ)’s ‘Million Singles/Albums’ list, Kim Hyun Joong’s ‘Kiss Kiss/ Lucky Guy’ has achieved ‘Gold’ after being released on January 25th.

The RIAJ reviews the sales of various albums and awards different rankings depending on the amount of album sales. ‘Gold’ status is awarded to those who have sold over 100,000 copies, which Kim Hyun Joong was able to surpass easily as he sold 71,812 copies on the first day alone and 100,000 copies in the first week.

With such high figures, he easily clinched the #2 spot on the Oricon chart, and also set a new record for an overseas artist for the amount of first day sales. Talk about impressive!

In related news, Kim Hyun Joong held a concert commemorating his debut on February 5th and met with 20,000 fans. He expressed, “Thank you for giving me, a rookie, such a great outcome.”

Kim Hyun Joong receives explosive interest from Japanese Fans. On the 11th of February, Oricon News reported that Kim Hyun Joong was chosen as the cover model of the new issue of popular An-An magazine in Japan.

In the release of the magazine, they placed a huge poster of Kim Hyun Joong on Omotesando, Japan and when fans came by of the news, they flocked the venue immediately. When fans saw the poster, much anticipation was set and the official's had to set out security guards due to the huge crowd.

An official of the magazine set, "The issue where Kim Hyun Joong was the cover was being sold online through Amazon, however it is already temporarily unavailable due to it being out of stock because of huge demands".

Meanwhile, Kim Hyun Joong recently debuted in Japan and released his debut single "Kiss Kiss/Lucky Guy" which topped the Oricon charts due to high album sales and interest from fans.

Japanese fans just can’t get enough of Kim Hyun Joong.

On the 9th of February, Oricon music site in Japan reported an interesting news that a large poster of Kim Hyun Joong was placed on Omotesando, Japan. The poster was for a magazine he recently had a photoshoot with.

When the poster was being placed, fans flocked and surrounded the poster causing quite a scene that required the security guards to step up and organize the people. The fans were excited and wanted to see the large poster of Kim Hyun Joong and they were enthusiastic to get the first look.

The magazine which was also being sold after the poster was placed was immediately sold out due to the large amount of fans who went there, this shows how huge Kim Hyun Joong’s popularity is.

Meanwhile, Kim Hyun Joong released his first Japan single “Lucky Guy” last 25th of January and on it’s first week it has already exceeded 100,000 album sales which gave it a huge boost in album sales ranking in Japan music charts.
