As Kim was cast in the role of the lead character Baek Mir in the series, City Conquest received great attention from buyers in the foreign market. The series has been sold to several countries and the total profit has reached about ten million dollars.

It proves Kim’s high popularity in overseas countries because it has been achieved even before the filming started.

Indeed, MBC TV’s Playful Kiss in 2010, which starred Kim, was sold to eleven Asian countries and was sold for the highest price to some countries including Thailand and the Philippines. Therefore, many people are expecting a lot from City Conquest.

The production company of the series says, “Thanks to Kim Hyun Joong, we sold for over ten million dollars to four Asian countries, Japan, China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, so far. It’s far higher than we expected.”

In the drama series City Conquest, Kim is playing the role of Baek Mir. Having grown up blaming his parents who left him when he was young, he tries to avenge himself on the evil society that ruined his family. He’s originally a rough, wild man, but he becomes gentle in front of his lover.

It will soon finish casting the leading roles and start filming in Japan in early July.
