Singer and actor Kim Hyun-joong has run a marathon aimed at helping children suffering from cancer, informed his agency KEYEAST on Monday.
KEYEAST explained in its press release today that Kim took part in the 7th marathon event for childhood cancer held in Seoul yesterday.
The event, hosted by a doctors’ association and sponsored by online social commerce firm Coupang which Kim endorses, will donate all profits from the event to children with cancer in financially struggling households.
“I decided to take part in the race to give new hope to children with cancer just like everyone else who showed up here,” Kim was quoted as saying in the statement. “I'm hoping the children will never give up and are cured as soon as possible.”
Kim, 24, made his debut as the leader of the popular boy band SS501 in 2005. He became a household name throughout Asia, starring in KBS’ smash hit series “Boys Over Flowers” in 2009.
He then played the role of Baek Sung-jo in “Naughty Kiss," the Korean small screen adaptation of the Japanese comic “Itazura na Kiss" last year and visited various countries in Asia to promote the show.
He is currently preparing for the release of his solo album which will be released sometime this month.
