Hallyu star Kim Hyun Joong once again solidified himself as one of the leading artists after becoming the first K-pop artist to sell over 200,000 album copies in Japan this year.
According to Oricon’s latest aggregated sales totals, Kim Hyun Joong’s second Japanese single “Heat”, which was released in July, has sold a total of 200,580 copies. The singer beat out the combined sales total of other iconic K-pop artists including Super Junior and TVXQ.
Super Junior’s “Opera” has sold about 184,000 copies since going on sale on May 9, while singing duo TVXQ’s single “Android” moved about 175,000 editions since its release on July 11. Selling over 200,000 copies, Kim Hyun Joong’s “Heat” achieved the feat of the best selling Japanese single by a Korean artist so far this year.

Kim Hyun-joong's second single album "Heat" in Japan has been enjoying enormous popularity.
Since its release in July, the album has sold 200,580 copies, according to the Oricon Chart. This makes Kim the first K-pop singer to post sales in excess of 200,000 copies for a single album in Japan this year.
Over 138,000 copies of the album were sold on July 4, the first day of its release, which immediately catapulted it to the top of Oricon's daily chart.
Since then, the album has swept various music charts including Oricon's weekly and monthly charts.
Kim's achievement exceeds that of Super Junior's "Opera," which has sold 184,000 copies since it was released in May, and TVXQ's "Android," of which 175,000 copies have been sold since July.

According to Oricon's official homepage, Kim Hyunjoong has sold 200,580 copies of his second Japanese single "HEAT," which was released last July 4th. Proving his popularity in Japan, Kim Hyunjoong recorded higher sales compared to other releases by Korean artists such as Super Junior's "Opera" (184,000 copies) and TVXQ's "Android" (175,000).
Despite the strong competition amongst other Korean artists, Kim Hyunjoong's Japanese agency were proud of the achievement, which has proven his solid popularity in the country.
Meanwhile, Kim Hyunjoong is currently preparing for his upcoming drama comeback "City Conquest," which will start airing late this year.
